Thorsten Maeder

born in 1969, studied music in Frankfurt/Main, specializing in conducting, organ and piano. Maeder studied orchestra conducting with Prof. Jiri Starek at Musikhocgschule Frankfurt am Main. He went on to the Musikhochschule Saarbruecken (Prof. Daniel Roth), where he took the concert examination for organ. Then followed studies with Prof. Daniel Roth in Paris at the Conservatoire National de Musique, where he passed another concert examination, and studies at Richard-Strauss-Konservatorium in Munich and the Protestant College Conservatory for Church Music in Halle, where Mr.Maeder took his church examinations.

Thorsten Maeder is a laureate of international competitions and performs regular concerts in Germany and many others countries, including the former Soviet Union, Great Britain, France, Spain, Italy, Finland and Poland. He has been invited to perform in South America (Ecuador, Argentina, Brazil), Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea and China. He has performed in the USA in Washington, Boston, Miami and Nassau as well as in Australia and New Zealand. He has appeared frequently on radio and television. Recording of several CDs.

Mr. Maeder is currently professor for organ at Hansei-University in Seoul/South Korea. He teaches master classes in Singapore, Korea and Russia. Since 1997 he has taught at the Johannes-Gutenberg-University in Mainz. Since 1999 he taught at “The Korean National University” in Seoul/South Korea. In the 2001 season he was choir director and assistant conductor of China National Symphony Orchestra (artistic director Muhai Tang). Mr. Maeder is conducting at opera houses in Koblenz and Mainz (Germany) and Merano (Italy). Artisitic leader of several festivals. Guest conductor of many well-known orchestras like China National Symphony Orchestra, Seoul Baroque Orchestra, Seoul Prime Orchestra, KBS Orchestra, Philharmony Cologne, Staats philharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz, Xiamen Philharmonic Orchestra and several more. Maeder’s repertory includes a wide range of operas, symphonies and concerts. Since 2005 Maeder is visiting professor for organ-music at Universidad Javeriana, Bogota/Colombia.
